Bike Helmets

There is nothing much more crazy and discombobulating than the world of bike helmets. There are so many brands, styles, and colors to chose from it can be a bit of head spinning ordeal just to select a bike helmet.

Of course it wasn’t this way back only a few decades ago. In 1987 state and local municipalities began passing helmet laws governing the use of helmets when riding a bicycle. Most of the laws passed are limited to those 18 years and younger, but there are a number of law that cover all ages.

Since those times back in the 80s and 90s, manufacturers have grown the bike helmet market into a multi-million dollar global industry. Major manufacturers are primarily located in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The quality, durability, effectiveness, and design of bike helmets varies immensely due to this diversity of makers.

Nevertheless, it has become very obvious that the use of bike helmets has saved many lives and countless minor injuries. Kids these days do not know of the days of not wearing bike helmets, like their parent do, and wearing one is like buckling a seat belt, something they just naturally do without much thought.

Chances are, if you have a bike, you have a bike helmet to go along with it. Are you in the market for a new helmet? One of the best places to purchase a bike helmet is on Amazon. There is a very large selection of bike helmets for sale on Amazon, but, as mentioned before, finding one can be head spinning and quite daunting.

Below I have picked out some of my favorite bike helmets and divided them up buy price point or manufacturer. Save yourself some time and a trip to the sports store and buy online for the best deals. Better yet, take a look at some of the more high end helmets, those you don’t typically find at your local store. There are some very nice helmets to chose from.

Best Bike Helmets Under $25

Here is a short list of decent helmets under $25. Keep in mind that you get what  you paid for. I don’t necessarily recommend buying a “cheap” helmets. They may meet the safety standards, but how long then will last of hard to determine. Shop with caution.

Best Bike Helmets Under $50

This is a good starting price point. You can get a pretty decent helmet for under $50, especially of you purchase through Amazon. There isn’t a whole lot of variety or originality in these helmets, but if you are a person who rides a bike only a couple of time a year, there may be the perfect helmet in this price point for you.

Best Bike Helmets Under $100

At this price point we are getting into some well designed and engineered bike helmets. The added touches are well worth the price increases. If you are getting more serious about biking, this is where you should start looking for your next helmet.

Best Bike Helmets Over $100

If you are going to purchase a bike helmet for over $100, I would say money is either no concern of yours, or you are a pretty serious bike enthusiast. The design and engineering that goes into these helmets is unmatched and justifies the added costs. These helmets, mostly manufactured in Europe, are top of the line and well worth the money.

About MelonCASE.com

MelonCASE was created to increase helmet awareness while building community and friendship. The creativity comes from our passion to protect the brain and head through the use of helmets. Helmet awareness has improved in recent years, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Many still chose to not wear helmets while participating in activities where head injuries are possible. Additionally, we want to provide a means from consumers to make smart choices when they are selecting a helmet. After all, it's your head that you're protecting and we want you to use it when choosing the right helmet for your outdoor activities. It's our goal to provide our visitors with a large variety of choices when it comes to proper and serious head care. Whether the helmet is for yourself or for a loved one, the right helmet is out there ready to do its job. No matter what sport or activity you're doing when your head could be at risk, we hope you take protecting your melon as seriously as we do. ~ MelonCASE.com
