Ski Helmets

I grew up in a time when ski helmets didn’t really exist. In fact, people just didn’t wear helmet for nearly anything. Bike riding, skateboarding, rock climbing…no matter what the sport or recreation, people just didn’t wear helmets. Not even for ice hockey.

Hockey players wear a serious amount of padding and protection, but there was a time when hockey players did not wear helmets. Even when they were first introduced and became a norm for younger players, the older generation never embraced them.

But, I guess there was football and baseball where helmets were actually worn, but for a sport like skiing, helmets just weren’t considered for so long.

Nowadays, when I am on the sloped it is rare to see someone not wearing a helmet. I began wearing one when I had kids and wore one to set the example. Now, I wouldn’t think of skiing without one. I even wear my ski helmet when my kids aren’t around. On that rare occasion the I get a solo trip to the mountain, or a guys only ski trip. Yup, even then, I don my ski helmet.

There was a brief time in my youth that I did wear a helmet when skiing. Of course it wasn’t a ski helmet. Nope, they didn’t exist back then. I ran into a tree, head on while sledding. Cracked my head open something fierce. Multiple stitches were need to close the wound.

After that my folks made me wear a hockey helmet whenever I was doing some type of winter sport, be it skiing, sledding, or ice hockey. I still didn’t wear one when bike riding or some other summer sport though. Didn’t want to get to far ahead of the times.

When it comes to ski helmets, there are many options these days and the features that come with them are getting better and better. They are comfortable, light weight, and some even are equipped to accommodate head phones, not that I condone wearing head phones when skiing. In my experience, you need to be able to hear the people around you.

One of the best places to buy a ski helmet online is Amazon. They have great deals on helmets and you can be assured that your order is secure. As well, their return and exchange policy make getting the right helmet pretty easy. Click through the links below and check out what they have to offer.

About MelonCASE.com

MelonCASE was created to increase helmet awareness while building community and friendship. The creativity comes from our passion to protect the brain and head through the use of helmets. Helmet awareness has improved in recent years, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Many still chose to not wear helmets while participating in activities where head injuries are possible. Additionally, we want to provide a means from consumers to make smart choices when they are selecting a helmet. After all, it's your head that you're protecting and we want you to use it when choosing the right helmet for your outdoor activities. It's our goal to provide our visitors with a large variety of choices when it comes to proper and serious head care. Whether the helmet is for yourself or for a loved one, the right helmet is out there ready to do its job. No matter what sport or activity you're doing when your head could be at risk, we hope you take protecting your melon as seriously as we do. ~ MelonCASE.com
